Much planning takes place to ensure our PDP covers the mandatory Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education guidance and helps the Academy to ensure the Gatsby Benchmarks are met.

Our Personal Development Programme offers much more than just the mandatory. Content is reviewed each year and based on student assessments, feedback from the Pastoral and Safeguarding teams, Academy aims, Student Voice and student wellbeing surveys.

As of September 2023, we will also be beginning to utilise resources from ‘Life Lessons’. Life Lessons provide discussion based personal development resources for students that are well researched and come with videos showing a variety of different viewpoints. Personal Development is regularly reviewed making use of:

• Student Voice
• Staff Voice
• Quizzing/Assessments which helps to identify gaps in knowledge
• Analysis of Student Wellbeing Surveys
• Analysis of Parental Voice
• Student evaluations completed on specific days such as Awareness Day

Staff are trained in delivering Personal Development each year as part of our training days. This includes how to deliver sensitive topics and encouraging healthy debate within Personal Development. For September 2023 all staff have been trained in equality and diversity.
