Sports

The Physical Education Department provides an extra-curricular programme that caters for all our students. The programme changes throughout the year and reflects what is being taught on the curriculum and the seasons of various sports and activities.

The extra-curricular programme has a solid spine of mainstream activities such as netball, football, rugby, basketball, benchball and athletics, which attract large numbers on a regular basis and feed into the school teams of these areas.  The Academy teams compete in local, regional, and national competitions with great success.  In addition to external competitions, many of these activities are so well attended that we can run intra-Academy competitions.  All year groups have access to activities and many Key Stage 4 and 5 students become involved in leading, officiating and coaching of the Key Stage 3 activities.

It is the department's intent to help every student find an activity that they become passionate about.  To work towards achieving this we aim to provide as many extra-curricular activities as possible.  We have developed strong links with local clubs, which has allowed us to increase our offer significantly.  Extra-curricular activities which are supported through these links include badminton, kickboxing, martial arts and scuba diving.

The extra-curricular programme also offers fitness development through Priory Leisure.

Throughout the year, the department aims to provide an extra-curricular programme that is broad, varied, interesting and inspiring. The department hopes that participation in activities will enthuse learning, provide enjoyment and a sense of positive wellbeing for all students.
