Combined Cadet Force
The Priory LSST CCF consists of a Royal Air Force section and an Army Section and is available to students from Easter Y8. The sessions are run on a Tuesday from 1520 – 1740 beginning with a parade where a register is taken and uniform inspection is conducted. Senior cadets will then address the sections with any notices and the specifics of that evening's training. The different sections and age cohorts are divided up and follow their own individual syllabuses. Details of the specific training elements can be found of each on the section's pages.
Cadets will study and complete a variety of activities within the CCF. These include military specific topics such as: drill, weapons training, military knowledge, principles of flight, fieldcraft (including infantry skills such as ambushes and battle orders) along with more general life skills including: first aid, navigation, living in the field, radio communications, cyber, STEM topics, teambuilding and leadership.
In addition, cadets will be given the opportunity to complete Adventurous Training (climbing, walking, canoeing, mountain biking and much more), high ropes, summer camps, visits to military establishments and museums, apply for courses, attend overseas camps and fly aircraft and gliders.
All cadets are provided with the opportunity to complete elements of training which are rewarded with qualifications – mainly being badges to be worn on their uniform, but for some being nationally recognised qualifications. These consist of:
Year 9 – BTEC Level 1 in Teamwork and Personal Skills for uniformed youth organisations
Year 10 – Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Level 2 – Young Leaders
Year 11 – Emergency First Aid at Work
BTEC Level 2 in Teamwork & Personal Development in the community
6th Form – ILM Level 3 in Leadership & Management
The In addition the CCF is also able to offer an accelerated 6th form package for those with an interest in joining at this age.
The Priory LSST CCF has a team of staff with a wealth of knowledge and experience of the HM Forces and the Combined Cadet Force, ensuring each cadet receives the best possible training.
